The Walking Dead spin-off Island of the Dead has been given a new name after being unveiled with a working championship earlier this twelvemonth.

Back in March, AMC unveiled plans for a series focused on Maggie and Negan with Lauren Cohan and new The Boys star Jeffrey Dean Morgan reprising their roles from the master mail-apocalyptic zombie drama.

Now, Entertainment Weekly was confirmed the bear witness will now officially be known as The Walking Dead: Dead City.

No reason has been given for the proper name modify, but it’s safe to say plenty of fans aren’t happy with the switch, with a lot of people referring the working title.

‘Isle of the Expressionless sounds so much better than Dead City,’ tweeted one viewer, while others suggested potential names including City (or Island) of the Walking Expressionless to still get the primary series in there.

Some other fan added: ‘I’m glad I’m not the just one who seems to accept liked Isle of the Dead improve than Dead City. It just had a improve ring to it. It’s going to take a while for me to get used to it lol. (sic)’

And a different person suggested: ‘Expressionless City doesn’t bother me likewise much. It’s definitely the Dead Expressionless. Simply throw an apostrophe S on there and make information technology The Walking Expressionless’southward Dead City. However prefer Island of the Dead, only at least I wouldn’t be as tempted to ridicule the proper name.’

The spin-off started filming in New Jersey recently, and information technology’south set to launch in with a six-episode outset season in 2023.

Revealing the news in earlier this year, AMC teased: ‘Isle of the Expressionless envisions the popular Maggie and Negan characters traveling into a post-apocalyptic Manhattan long ago cut off from the mainland.

‘The crumbling urban center is filled with the dead and denizens who have made New York City their own world total of anarchy, danger, beauty, and terror.’

Lauren commented: ‘Maggie is very close to my heart and I’m excited to go along her journey confronting the iconic backdrop of New York City, alongside my friend and collaborator, Jeffrey Dean Morgan.

‘Eli Jorné has created something incredibly special and I cannot wait for the fans to see what nosotros take in store for Maggie and Negan.’

And Jeffrey is excited to get the chance to explore their characters in a totally new environs.

‘It’s been such a ride walking in Negan’s shoes, I’m beyond excited to continue his journeying in New York Metropolis with Lauren,’ he added. ‘Walkers in an urban setting has always been such a cool image, but 5th Avenue, Empire State Edifice, Statue of Liberty? The greatest urban center in the earth?

‘The backdrop is amazing, but it’s the story that [writer] Eli Jorné cooked upward that is even ameliorate.’


The Walking Expressionless is available to stream on Disney+ and Amazon Prime number.
