“Why am I lamentatory with Kanye? That’s an interesting mode to phrase it considering a beef has to go both ways,” Noah told the audience member. “Genuinely information technology does. West has courted controversy over the last few weeks for making racist and antisemitic comments in various interviews. Due west has said during past controversial media blitzes that he struggles with mental illness, which has led to people defending West this time around regarding his antisemitic comments. Noah did not specifically address West’s latest comments, but he did question why the media is standing to give West a platform when it’s known that he has mental wellness issues.

“If somebody says to me that they have a mental health consequence,” Noah said, “and they say to everyone that when they don’t take their medication they’re unable to control themselves, and then everyone ignores when that person is having an episode and they haven’t taken the medication, and so they platform the person and then they put them up…I sometimes think it’s a little shitty, to be honest with you.”

“My grandfather was bipolar,” Noah continued. “I’grand not proverb Kanye is. I’yard just saying my granddad was bipolar, and one thing we knew was when he was having one of his episodes. He could deed in a sure style and could practice certain things…merely our task was to support him. It would be weird if I was in that location going, ‘Oh, my grandfather’s having an episode over again. I’m going viral tonight!’ I think information technology’s a niggling flake foreign.”

“I don’t have beef with a human beingness who has expressed openly that they’re dealing with a mental health consequence. I don’t have beefiness with that human being being,” Noah said. “What I take beef with is united states of america every bit society non meeting around the person and going like, ‘Hey, maybe this is non the moment to put a microphone in your confront so that you merely go off maxim everything.’ If this is what y’all desire to say when you’re on your medication, then that’s a different story. Simply considering you’ve told us that, I’one thousand not going to sit down by and say that.”

Noah concluded by saying he has “never had beef” with Kanye West, calculation, “I’thousand still playing ‘College Dropout.’ I’m still playing the music. I yet dearest the man that I call up he is. And I empathize that he’s gone through a lot, y’all know, and I don’t take that for granted. Just I’ve promised myself I’ll never be the person who just sits by and gleefully says things well-nigh people that I care nearly and and so likewise joins the group of mourners later and acts like I wasn’t part of information technology. Also many people like to mourn you when you’re dead and they don’t say anything to you when you lot’re live. So I don’t know where to end. But that’southward it.”

The TikTok below is not the starting time fourth dimension Noah has addressed his relationship with West. During an August 2022 interview on
Multifariousness’southward Awards Circuit Podcast, the host spoke about why he decided to make public comments about West’s beliefs in the first place.

“I’ve just go more comfortable speaking my mind in situations where I experience like the mob forgets that nosotros’re dealing with man beings,” Noah said at the fourth dimension. “It’southward easy to stand on the sidelines, see a train crash coming and say nada about it. And then later on the train crashes off the tracks, we say, ‘Oh, I saw that coming!’ Well, then why didn’t y’all say anything? Especially if you have some sort of platform, you lot have some sort of obligation to speak a truth. You know, see something and say some matter.”

Noah’s latest comments followed Howard Stern’south viral reaction to West’s antisemitic comments. Stern compared Due west to Hitler and criticized West’southward defenders who say the rapper has mental wellness issues.

“Fuck this mental illness, self defence thing that he’south into,” Stern said. “You know, like, ‘Oh yeah, he’due south just mentally ill. Don’t worry almost it…’ If he’s so mentally sick, why don’t they engage a conservator over his money like they did with the poor Britney Spears?”
